Protection against surprise medical billing. Overview by cms.gov

I inform clients of the cost of therapy before starting, and discuss and provide notice of increased rates at least a year in advance, but this may be a shorter time if clients do not meet consistently. Typically surprises occur if clients use insurance in-network or depend on out-of-network reimbursement. This is best prevented by staying in contact with your insurer directly to stay updated on your specific benefits.
